“Dairy farming had been our whole life with 6 generations of dairying behind us and a 7th looking unlikely. We enjoyed farming and working with animals but we did not want to continue with the daily grind of dairy farming. We had been consdiering the move into sheep production for sometime. After learning about the Australian White Breed, we thought they would suit us perfectly. We liked the fact they were self replacing, needed no shearing or crutching (as we had no shearing facilities), had excellent mothering abilities and very few foot problems. It took approximately 3 years for us to scale back dairying and ramp up lamb production due to the changes we made, fencing, water thoughs, yards etc. We initially started with a small number of good quality ewe lambs but as our farm evolved we wanted to increase numbers substantially. After contacting Craig Pellow at QPL Rural he managed to source excellent quality young ewe lambs for us. QPL has been great deal with. Craig’s passion for the Australina White Sheep breed is infectious and has been a wealth of knowledge. Now with the addition of Jordan Arthur to the team he will be a huge asset for QPL. Jordan has assisted us with our recent sales and we have been impressed with the service we have received. Attending the Annual Tattykeel Ram Sales are a highlight to us as we gain an enormous amount of knowledge and insight. We have always found Graham Gilmore extremely generous with his time and is happy to discuss all aspects of the Australian White Sheep. We have absolutely no regrets changing enterprises and look forward to the future.”
